Suspended fireplace prices in NZ: what you actually pay

Short answer: the suspended bioethanol fireplaces we sell run from $4,595 to about $24,000. Prices below are current as at October 2026, include GST and do not include freight.

Why the range is so wide
- Burner. A manual burner is a stainless steel reservoir you fill and light. An automatic burner adds electronics, sensors and remote or app control, and costs more.
- Finish. Brass, copper and polished stainless finishes generally cost more than black.
- Size. A bigger shell means more material and a bigger burner.
Hardware you may need on top
The standard mount suits a flat ceiling at a normal height. A high or pitched ceiling needs extra parts. For the Cocoon range:
- Extension pole, 250 mm to 1000 mm: $375 to $685
- Angled mounting bracket for pitched ceilings: $775 to $915
- Standard mounting bracket: $545 to $745
- Complete hanging system: $1,375 to $1,835

The costs people forget
- Fixing it to the ceiling. The pole has to fix into structure that can carry the load. Allow for a builder to confirm the fixing point and put it up. The cost depends on your ceiling.
- Freight. Delivery is calculated at checkout by size and destination.
- Fuel. Allow about $1.65 an hour for the Cocoon Aeris and about $3.30 for the Iconic 900 at full flame, on the makers' fuel use figures. See running costs.
What you do not pay for
A suspended wood or gas fire needs a flue through the ceiling and roof, and the trades and consents that go with it. A suspended bioethanol fire has no flue, so that whole part of the job is not there. See suspended wood vs gas vs bioethanol.
